The Target Specific for the
SRV Demonstration Experiment #10
(Conducted 10-16 December 1999)

Essential Cue:
The Leaning Tower of Pisa, Italy
Numbered Aspects:
1. The Leaning Tower of Pisa / Pisa, Italy (1179)
2. The Leaning Tower of Pisa / Pisa, Italy (1179) - perspective:
from 200 feet directly above the Leaning Tower of Pisa
3. The largest chamber within the Leaning Tower of Pisa (8 p.m.
GMT, 28 September 1774)
WEBMASTER'S NOTE: This target contains various
interesting complexities. 1179 is the year immediately following
the first suspension of construction for the Leaning Tower of
Pisa due in large part to a war that began in 1178 with Firenze
(Florence). In 1179, only three floors had been completed for
the Tower, and it took approximately 200 years to complete the
project. (Interestingly, it began to lean after only the first
three floors were built.) Again in 1179, next to the Tower was
(and still is) the Duomo (a huge cathedral) and other notable
structures. The target as written contains many of the evolving
components of the Leaning Tower of Pisa. The essential cue references
just the Tower, which includes its present form, while the first
and second aspects address its squatter manifestation as it appeared
in 1179. The 1179 year tag is significant since it links the
war to the target (since the then frozen state of the Tower is
due largely to the war).
